COVID-19 Prevention

Before Making an Appointment:

Out of a desire to keep everyone safe, Susan generally is limiting appointments to people who have been fully vaccinated. Online Ayurveda/Yoga Therapy consultations and distance Reiki sessions will continue to be available.

For those who choose not to be vaccinated, Susan understands that people may differ in their assessment of relative risks and thanks you for understanding the difficult decision she has made about the best way she can minimize risks for all concerned. If you have not been vaccinated but would like an appointment, please contact Susan to discuss whether an in-person appointment might be possible for you or whether an online appointment would work well for you.

Susan will wear a mask during appointments. Clients are encouraged to wear masks when possible, for their own safety as well as that of others in the building. Some services Susan offers involve long periods of contact while in close proximity. Clients cannot wear a mask while receiving Tibetan Cranial work and may want to remove their mask with some other services.

Information About Your Appointment:

Essence Ayurveda's COVID-19 Preparedness Plan includes the following in connection with your visit:

  1. Please cancel your appointment if you feel ill or have any symptoms that could be attributable to COVID‑19, even if you are sure it is not COVID‑19 or have been vaccinated. Please also cancel if anyone else in your household is ill or if you have been exposed to someone with COVID‑19. There is no cancellation fee in these circumstances. Susan will be happy to reschedule when appropriate. Likewise, Susan will need to reschedule if she suspects that she is ill or if she has been exposed to someone who has or is suspected of having COVID-19.

  2. You will receive an email from the Square scheduling system confirming your appointment and a reminder email 48 hours before the appointment. Those emails contain information important for your appointment. Please carefully review the emails. New clients also may receive an additional email with forms that need to be completed at the first visit. Please fill out the forms and either email them to Susan or bring them with you to the appointment, to avoid spending appointment time filling out the forms. If this is a concern or poses any difficulty, please let Susan know so that accommodations can be made. For your convenience, links to the forms are below:

Client Bill of Rights and Client Agreement (for all new clients)
Ayurveda Intake Form (for all first-time Ayurveda consultations)
Essence Session Form (for all Thai massage appointments)

  3. Please do not arrive early for your appointment. You may wait in your car or on the front porch. When you arrive for your appointment, Susan will ask how you feel and if you have COVID‑19 symptoms or have known exposure.

  4. Masks are encouraged inside the building at all times, except when that is not possible because of the service being provided or if the mask causes discomfort while a service is being provided. If you do not have a mask, a disposable mask will be available. Susan will wear a mask.

  5. Hand sanitizer is available in the entryway, and a restroom, with soap and disposable guest hand towels, is available for clients. Clients are asked to use good respiratory hygiene, including covering their mouth and nose with their sleeve or a tissue when coughing or sneezing, avoiding touching their face, particularly their mouth, nose, and eyes, with their hands, and properly disposing of tissues.

  6. Essence Ayurveda is located in Susan's home. You will walk through common areas of the home to the Essence Room on the second floor. This space is licensed by the City of Saint Paul as a Class B Massage Center (Home Location). Essence Ayurveda follows sanitation protocols required by Saint Paul for a Class B Center. Others may be in the house when you come for your appointment. They will try to avoid the common areas while you are there and will not be in the Essence Room. Fully-vaccinated residents and non-client visitors may not be wearing a mask. A baby who has not been vaccinated and cannot wear a mask may be in the home.

  7. Sanitation protocols make it impractical for Essence Ayurveda to provide blankets and eye pillows. Although you will remain clothed for all services that Susan offers, it is common to become chilled when lying still and relaxing. Please keep this in mind in deciding what to wear. A top sheet, space heater, and hot water bottle will be available to help keep you warm. You are welcome to bring your own clean blanket and an eye pillow. If your appointment is for yoga therapy or private yoga, if possible please bring your own yoga mat.

  8. Payment is required at the time of service. Contactless payment options include a contactless credit card reader, Apple pay, check, and online invoice with payment by electronic transfer. If you prefer to pay by cash, please bring the exact amount.
